OUR STORY

The Liverpool Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy (LCCP) was first established by Dr Ailis Murphy (CPsychol) and Peter Banckyz in 1997. Over 22 years a team of carefully selected and highly competent practitioners was built up and LCCP developed an excellent reputation for reliable and high quality psychotherapy and counselling services. In 2018 Ailis and Peter decided that it was time to move on from Liverpool and finish their work at LCCP, leaving behind a rich history.

Carol Wain and Hannah Harris, who were both established practitioners at LCCP, were appointed as the new Directors and accepted the opportunity and challenge of leading LCCP into a new phase of growth, to become the Liverpool Psychotherapy + Counselling Centre (or LPCC) in 2019. Previously based at number 55 Rodney st, the team moved into a newly developed premises at 60 Rodney Street in Liverpool City Centre.

It wasn’t long before Carol and Hannah purchased and refurbished new premises at 1 Cronton Road in South Liverpool. The motivation for establishing a new premises in South Liverpool was to offer greater accessibility for clients, create a bespoke therapeutic environment and expand the team to offer clients a greater choice of therapy.

The new Centre in South Liverpool opened in March 2020 at the start of the pandemic! We are especially proud to have successfully moved the LPCC team into the new Centre and then continue to offer quality therapy in a Covid-secure environment for clients throughout the pandemic.

Carol and Hannah have both invested a lot of time and energy over the last few years in developing the new Centre and supporting and expanding the LPCC team of carefully selected self-employed practitioners, who all have the qualifications, experience and professionalism to offer high quality therapy to clients.

In December 2022 Hannah moved on from LPCC. Carol continues in her role as the Director of LPCC with exciting plans unfolding. One of the newest developments is the ‘greening’ of the Centre and the offering of psychotherapy in natural spaces. For more information see Carol Wain.

‘’The ethos behind the formation of Liverpool Centre was always to create a safe place for people to come to explore their emotional and relational needs, I believe we went a long way to achieving this, and while Dr Murphy and I are sad after nurturing the organisation for so long to be moving on to semi-retirement, we are so very pleased that Carol and Hannah will be taking the practice on, moving to new bespoke offices and continuing the journey of treatment excellence. While the name will change, we are happy that the people we have worked with over the years will still be around, providing the same levels of professionalism as ever.’’
— Peter Banczyk, outgoing Director for Liverpool Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy (LCCP)
